Lambert’s professional background combines magazine editing, outdoor journalism, and work around a professional football team. Simon & Schuster’s author biography also identifies him as founder and editor in chief of Stoked Media Group, whose publications concern surfing, snow sports, and outdoor culture. His articles and books therefore cover both participation in outdoor activities and the organizations through which sports reach a wider public.

While studying at Palm Beach Atlantic University, Lambert received the Outdoor Writers Association of America’s Bodie McDowell Scholarship. His author website records a 2024 Democratization and Accessibility award from Surf Park Summit for Surf Therapy. The two surfing books approach related subjects at different scales: one follows families connected with a particular organization, while the other surveys practitioners, research, and a broader range of programs.

The surfing books were published by Hatherleigh Press and distributed through Penguin Random House. Waves of Healing appeared on March 26, 2019, and the American edition of Surf Therapy on April 30, 2024. These publication dates identify the original books independently of later regional editions.

Surfing Books

Waves of Healing: How Surfing Changes the Lives of Children with Autism: Lambert follows families involved with Surfers for Autism, an organization that offers surfing events for children with autism. Their accounts describe challenges with communication, participation, and acceptance, alongside experiences in the water and within a supportive community. The book uses these families’ stories to examine the role surfing has played in their lives. Published in 2019.

Surf Therapy: The Evidence-Based Science for Physical, Mental & Emotional Well-Being: Lambert investigates the surf therapy movement through interviews with practitioners and accounts of research and organized programs. The book considers projects involving people with disabilities, addiction, trauma, and other difficulties. Its focus is the development and use of surfing in therapeutic settings, combining participants’ experiences with discussion of the evidence cited by the field. Published in 2024.

Football Books

Changing The Playbook: How Women Have Transformed Professional Football: This history follows women’s involvement in professional football from the NFL’s early decades to contemporary leadership and coaching roles. Lambert examines contributions to ownership, front offices, media, and other parts of the sport. Organized across successive eras, the book describes how opportunities expanded and how women influenced an industry long associated primarily with men. Published in September 2026.

The structure of Changing the Playbook traces developments from early pioneers in the years after the NFL’s founding through women’s expanding presence in the twenty-first century. Its chapters distinguish ownership, front-office work, and coaching rather than treating all participation as a single development. Bloomsbury lists the first hardback edition as September 3, 2026, with 248 pages and thirteen photographs.
